Should the IRFU pay me to go to the Samoa match?

So I’ve been offered a free ticket to the Samoa match tomorrow afternoon by three different people.  And I politely refused them all, saying that I’d planned to watch it at home.

But then I got to thinking, if I won’t take a free ticket, would it actually be worth the IRFU’s while to pay me to attend the game?

Seems a silly idea, but… hear me out.

The sheer novelty of my being given, say, €5 to attend the match would mean that I’d simply have to go.

The ground staff are all being paid anyway.

I’d make the ground look a bit more full; I’d certainly generate more atmosphere than an empty green seat.

Since I could walk to the ground I’d be playing with house money, meaning that I’d probably feel completely fine about buying a pint or two while there, and maybe the same afterwards before heading off.  This is revenue that wouldn’t be earned in my absence.

Of course, this would set a terrible precedent and would never happen.

But a man can dream.
